Hello lovely people!
So firstly sorry about the lack of blog posts recently – its all been a bit manic!!
I feel I have started off the year with a bang these first two months and bought a couple of new bits to try out! Of course I want to share my first thoughts so carry on reading to find out what I bought.
NYX Tame & Frame Tinted Brow Pomade in “Chocolate”
I bought this because I had heard it was a good dupe for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pomade and it was a bargain price of £5.50! I got the shade ‘Chocolate’, although I wanted the darker but it was sold out. Really super glad I didn’t get the darker one as this colour is perfect! It’s an easy formula to use with an angled brush and lasts all day. I don’t find it smudges or bleeds which is amazing – although it is cold at the moment! Overall I’m really pleased with this buy so far!
B. Makeup Brush Cleanser
I was in desperate need of some make-up brush cleanser and stumbled across this in Superdrug. I am honest so glad I bought this and I cannot recommend it enough. Its a product that does exactly what it says – dirty make-up brushes are super clean, like new style clean after using this! I also haven’t found any bristles fallen out using this either which I was a little concerned about! So yes if you’re looking for a make-up brush cleaner I would recommend you get this one! (below is a little step by step to show you how easy this stuff is to use!!)
New Look Prime & Fix Lipstick Base
I bought this and the two lipsticks on a complete whim in New Look. I hadn’t really tried any New Look beauty products so it was kind of a curious buy and I don’t really have a lipstick primer. Its a completely clear product and its lightly scented with kind of a vanilla / cake kind of smell, its not unpleasant as its not overpowering. The primer goes on like a smooth, thick balm and makes lips feel hydrated. Im not sure it makes lipstick last that much longer because I almost feel like they slide off the primer because its so smooth. I will keep trying with all sorts of lipsticks though! If not for anything else it is a nice product to use after the e.l.f lip exfoliator.
New Look Super Matte Liquid Lipstick – Raspberry
The colour of this. Oh. My. I am in LOVE. However, formula and wear is just as important. I’m not sure I love the formula of this, its kind of velvety but it does bleed a bit. The colour is so intense (which is great) but it doesn’t stay in place as much as I want it to. I’ll continue testing and write a full review on this one!
New Look Velvet Matte Lipstick Crayon – Toffee Apple
So this was my final purchase in my mini New Look lipstick haul. This one is like a lip pencil / chubby stick and I like other ones I have in a similar style (N07 Matte Lip Crayon, Rimmel Colour Rush Balm) but its quite a bit slimmer so I wanted to try it. I also really liked the colour its a lovely mid warm brown. I am quite impressed with this so far, formula is super smooth and creamy (they weren’t joking when they said velvet!) and the colour is so pretty with great pigmentation. The only downside is that it doesn’t last too long, not sure if this is because of the creamy formula, its almost like a balm. I’ll keep testing and give you guys an update on this one!
Maybeline Dream Satin Foundation
I wanted to buy a new foundation so that when my Smashbox one runs out (which I have been really loving – check out the review here) I have at least one other foundation that I really like for everyday wear. Unfortunately I did buy this in the wrong shade….damn Boots lighting!! It is too pale which I find easier to work with than too dark, so although I haven’t been wearing this on its own I have been trying to test it out a bit. Its quite a thick formula but I’m just not sure its got the coverage I expected from the feel of the product. I want to try this one out with a foundation brush rather than my BeautyBlender and see if that makes a change.
Have you tried any products above? Or have any recommendations – I would love to hear them in the comments below!
